Second Sunday Spoken Word
Second Sunday Spoken Word is the first and only regularly scheduled monthly event devoted to the Spoken Word. We welcome all writers, including lyricists, to share their work on the second Sunday of every month. We believe in speaking out and are dedicated to giving people a voice. We are open to all readers, genres, and formats.
This month’s readings at Second Sunday Spoken Word will feature Everet Curry discussing the MY SI Quilt Project along with other participants of the quilting workshop which is currently taking place at Art on the Terrace. The workshop and the presentation are made possible in part by an Original Work Grant from SIArts, with public funding from the NYS Council on the Arts. Other writers and poets will follow up with original poetry and stories written on or about the Staten Island Ferry, the National Lighthouse Museum, the Greenbelt. or just about themselves as residents of Staten Island and residents of the world. Music by Rob and Elle, cofounders of the Staten Island Acoustic Music Society, will follow the readings. The event is free, all ages are welcome, and complimentary refreshments, are served.
