Second Sunday Spoken Word is the first and only regularly scheduled monthly event devoted to the Spoken Word. We welcome all writers, including lyricists, to share their work on the second Sunday of every month. We believe in speaking out and are dedicated to giving people a voice. We are open to all readers, genres, and formats.

Suggested Donation $2


3-5 pm Spoken Word – original poetry, fiction, and non-fiction

5-6 pm Singers, songwriters, and other acoustic musicians

Staten Island Spoken Word in Brooklyn

Words Across Bridges

On Saturday, August 18th, during the closing weekend of the BWAC Summer Exhibition writers from the Staten Island Creative Community will get together again with writers from the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition to present original writing in Red Hook. SICC Spoken Word has been the recipient of four Poets and Writers grants and has performed city wide as well as at its regularly scheduled Second Sunday Spoken Word in Staten Island. On August 18th at 2 p.m. Fedeline Charles will be featured reading poetry from her new book as well as Hiroko Otani and Dennis Green who will read and perform in two languages.

Light refreshments will be served.
